About The Position

The Lead Doctor at VEG is responsible for supporting the medical team to maintain medical excellence. This role involves coaching and developing fellow doctors, executing patient safety initiatives, and leading medical processes and strategies. The Lead Doctor will also promote a culture of inclusivity and equitable treatment within the team and ensure a safe environment for both employees and customers.

Requirements

• Have earned a DVM, VMD, or equivalent degree.
• A minimum of 2-3 years of ER experience.
• 1 year leadership experience preferred, but not required.
• Flexible to work a combination of clinical and administrative shifts.
• Trained in emergency surgery/endoscopy preferred but not required.
• Extensive experience with managing critical cases.
• Available to work various shifts including days, swings, and overnight shifts.
• Willingness to support doctors and perform administrative tasks during off hours.

Nice To Haves

• 1 year leadership experience.
• Trained in emergency surgery/endoscopy.

Responsibilities

• Coach fellow doctors on medical excellence and doctoring the VEG Way.
• Support fellow doctors through their assigned growth and development plans.
• Initiate team huddles and provide motivational encouragement to the team.
• Recognize staff for small medical and cultural wins.
• Establish rapport with all staff to maintain VEG culture.
• Execute patient safety initiatives as determined by local leadership.
• Create doctor schedules and manage leave requests.
• Address customer complaints related to medical concerns.
• Lead monthly doctor meetings and M&M rounds.
• Support MD strategy for doctor recruitment marketing and succession planning.
• Encourage staff to perfect the VEG Spikes.
• May own the NERD training program if a teaching hospital.
