About The Position

The role of the STARS Lead Direct Support Professional (DSP) position is to support the Daily Living Specialist in the implementation of services for the licensed STARS program. The Lead DSP works with families and supports employees to deliver person centered supports to individuals with disabilities served by the STARS Program. The Lead DSP provides this assistance in accordance with the Agency’s best practice and current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing the agency, and as directed by the Program Director. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or certification in Human Services or field related to work in the Developmental Disabilities field
  • Two to four years of experience working with individuals with disabilities or a related field (required)
  • Must be able to successfully complete the Department of Human Services Background Study
  • Ability to adapt to and respect each individuals needs and preferences
  • Valid driver’s license and successful completion of a driving record check and proof of automobile insurance
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Full COVID 19 Vaccination required

Responsibilities

  • Perform personal care task, including assistance with basic personal hygiene and grooming, feeding and ambulation, toileting and health related tasks
  • Complete and maintain required documents for services provided including but not limited to; daily documentation of activities, Individual Abuse Prevention plans, Individual Program plans and assessment
  • Completes supervisory tasks under the direction of the Program Manager
  • Assumes management and oversight of the STARS Program in the absence of the assigned Program Manager
  • Assists the Program Manager in delivery of orientation, and annual training to program staff
  • Ensures daily documentation for individuals served is completed in compliance with 245D licensing requirements
  • Organize petty cash, track documentation of purchases, and balance correct amounts for each individual served by the program
  • Assist with development of weekly activities calendar
  • Organize, schedule, and implement caseload for program staff
  • Assist the Program Manager in the delivery of disciplinary counseling for program staff
  • Mentor and support individuals served in community integration, and volunteer opportunities
  • Model professional and appropriate behavior and interactions when in the community or attending community engagement activities
  • Manage and oversee the STARS facilities cleaning schedule, supply inventory, and supply purchasing
  • Conduct research through Star services or other third parties for trainings
  • Source activity opportunities in the community, and develop an activities calendar for STARS
  • Budget for the activities that are planned and submit the budget to their supervisor
  • Assist in scheduling and organizing staff meetings
  • Assign goals and keep track that goals are being completed using the "goal sheet" and Pavillio
  • Approve Pavillio daily
  • Assure the health and safety of every participant
  • Assess each individuals’ interests to determine appropriate community experiences in consultation with the individual’s team
  • Comply with applicable agency, federal, and state regulations
  • Assist with cleaning of facility and laundry responsibilities
