About The Position

Our Skagway Transportation team is currently seeking a Lead Diesel Technician to perform preventative maintenance and service on our fleet of diesel engine motorcoaches and related components. You will help plan, coach, and facilitates skill development of technicians and oversees seasonal maintenance employees.  In addition, you will work with the Shop Foreman in planning daily shop operations, annual maintenance, scheduling and budgeting.

Requirements

  • This job normally requires a level of experience and knowledge in motor coach maintenance equivalent to that which would be acquired through the completion of an Associate’s degree or some college or completion of technical training or certification and two years’ experience. Directly related work experience which demonstrates technical knowledge may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • CFC and brake inspector certification is required. 
  • Demonstrated experience supervising employees, seasonal and fulltime. 
  • Effective as a mentor and trainer in shop.
  • Current Alaska Driver’s license with Commercial Driver's License endorsement required. (May be obtained through Company training course). Suitable driving record required.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test and will become a part of the random drug test pool.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Routinely, performs preventative maintenance and safety inspections
  • Proficient in the diagnoses and repair electrical systems, refrigeration systems, pneumatic systems, brakes and drive trains.
  • Plans, mentors, coaches, and facilitates the skill development of technicians, apprentices and seasonal maintenance team.  
  • Monitors shop work quality and coach technicians when needed.
  • Cleans and maintains maintenance facilities and areas according to established Company standards.
  • Applies federal, state, and Company regulations, policies, and procedures to all tasks.
  • Maintains maintenance records in the appropriate logs.
  • Performs maintenance duties required by departmental supervision.
