Radiology Technologists use x-ray equipment to obtain images of the body interpreted by a Radiologist and are responsible for preparing patients for the exam, moving and instructing the patient into the proper position, correctly operating the equipment, and obtaining a high-quality image while minimizing radiation dose to the patient. As the Lead Radiology Technologist, you will not only provide imaging and patient care services at defined levels but also offer technical expertise and guidance to fellow technologists. In this role, you will perform radiology exams and fluoroscopic procedures on patients of all ages while upholding the highest standards of patient safety, while ensuring quality, consistency and efficient workflow within the imaging department. A caregiver in this role works days from 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
  • Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(ARRT) and in good standing
  • Current state licensure
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Two years of recent modality experience
  • Ability to direct, evaluate and supervise others
  • Knowledge of Federal and State regulatories
  • Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience in radiology/x-ray
  • Prior supervisory experience

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate work activities of assigned personnel.
  • Schedule work assignments, prepare master schedule and perform payroll time sheet for employees.
  • Assist with interviewing applicants and train, guide and provide feedback to current team members.
  • Maintain procedure manual and communicate changes to staff.
  • Assist with all policies and procedures required by local, state, or federal law and compliance or credentialing bodies (ACR, MQSA, Medicare, Medicaid, FDA, etc.).
  • Assist with instrument calibration and records to ensure compliance with quality assurance requirements.
  • Ensure and maintain quality control, radiation protection and safety standards through daily/weekly quality assurance tests.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media and/or medications within accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Provide technical direction with complex cases and problem solving.
  • Schedule routine preventative maintenance on equipment to meet safety and regulatory standards and instruct other area personnel in protection.
  • Prepare and check patients prior to procedure.
  • Acquire, review, verify and validate patient questionnaire, chart, data/requisition and patient screening safety form.
  • Perform imaging procedures required per protocol.
  • Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exam.
  • Perform venous punctures and maintain competencies.
  • Immediately report any malfunctions and equipment dysfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator.
  • Review process films/scans to determine quality and need for additional images.
  • Provide leadership and clinical coverage for other imaging modalities and/or locations as needed.
