About The Position

The position is for a Lead Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist specializing in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) at the James A Haley VA Tampa Medical Center. This role requires advanced knowledge of MRI procedures, including the physics of superconducting magnets and their application in medical imaging. The technologist will perform quality diagnostic examinations, assist in interventional procedures under MRI guidance, and may be cross-trained in special procedures. The position is full-time, with a work schedule from 5 AM to 1:30 PM, Monday to Friday, and may require participation in on-call or standby duties.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship.
• Certification in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
• Advanced ARRT certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
• Completion of a full-time training course in diagnostic radiologic technology.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination.

Nice To Haves

• 5 years of experience as a Registered MR Technologist in a major medical facility.

Responsibilities

• Perform Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) procedures for patients.
• Assist the radiologist in performing interventional procedures under MRI guidance.
• Provide technical oversight and assign tasks to lower-grade DRTs.
• Plan and project staffing needs.
• Instruct and train DRTs on newly acquired equipment.
• Participate in departmental in-service programs.
