About The Position

Lead DevSecOps Engineer and DevSecOps Engineer are two automation focused engineering roles responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable infrastructure platforms using infrastructure as code and configuration management practices. Core responsibilities are similar however the Lead role will assist in the mentorship and guidance of junior and less experience team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Computer Science and ten+ years of experience in software engineering or IT including at least four years of experience in a role in which the primary responsibility is git based application code development and/or DevOps Engineering and/or the development, maintenance, and support of CI/CD pipelines or appropriate combination of industry related professional experience and education
  • Foundational cloud architecture knowledge
  • Must demonstrate ability to write code
  • Must demonstrate ability to construct basic application build pipeline
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and related training
  • Seven+ years of experience in software engineering or IT including at least four years of experience in a role in which the primary responsibility is git based application code development and/or DevOps Engineering and/or the development, maintenance, and support of CI/CD pipelines or appropriate combination of industry related professional experience and education
  • Foundational cloud architecture knowledge
  • Must demonstrate ability to write code

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in Agile teams and knowledge of Agile development & release practices. Experience supporting a team with DevOps in an Enterprise Agile framework (SAFe, LeSS, DAD, Enterprise Scrum, Nexus, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of Linux and Windows systems with experience managing configuration, patching, and hardening through automation rather than manual processes.
  • Experience working in regulated industries such as banking and financial services with an understanding of auditability, traceability, and compliant automation patterns.
  • Deep experience with Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), including: Designing reusable playbooks, roles, and collections Using Ansible to orchestrate multi-tier infrastructure deployments Integrating AAP jobs into CI/CD pipelines Applying automated compliance checks and configuration drift detection
  • Strong experience building and managing Terraform Enterprise automation, including: Writing modular, reusable Terraform modules Managing TFE workspaces, variables, runners, and state Implementing policy-as-code (Sentinel/Open Policy Agent) for compliance Automating provisioning across VMware, Nutanix, and/or cloud platforms
  • Hands-on automation experience with vSphere, Nutanix, or cloud providers using Terraform providers, APIs, or SDKs.
  • Expertise developing REST API integrations for orchestrating infrastructure services and building inter‑system automation workflows.
  • Strong programming/scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, or Bash, with an emphasis on building automation frameworks, reusable libraries, or dynamic inventory integrations.
  • Practical experience with GitLab or GitHub for version control, branching strategies, and automation of infrastructure changes through CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience incorporating automated testing into infrastructure workflows, such as: Terraform plan linting and validation Ansible syntax checks, idempotency tests, and molecule testing Security scanning and policy enforcement in pipelines
  • Experience using platform CLIs, SDKs, or modules to automate Day‑0/Day‑1/Day‑2 operations (e.g., PowerCLI, govc, Nutanix Prism APIs, cloud provider SDKs).
  • Familiarity with automating observability tooling, including deploying agents, generating dashboards, and managing alerts through code.
  • Experience contributing to shared automation codebases, performing peer reviews, and following GitOps‑style workflows and IaC best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide thought leadership and guidance to delivery teams on the effective adoption of DevSecOps practices and frameworks, promoting secure, scalable, and efficient delivery of business value.
  • Champion DevSecOps as a core cultural and strategic capability, defining best practices and driving continuous improvement across the organization.
  • Design and implement innovative DevSecOps solutions by applying analytical judgment and selecting the most appropriate tools and technologies to address complex lifecycle and integration challenges.
  • Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations.
  • Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure automation frameworks that eliminate manual operations and standardize provisioning, configuration, and ongoing platform management. Apply advanced expertise across the automation lifecycle to deliver secure, compliant, and scalable infrastructure services including: Infrastructure as Code; Agile and Development Lifecycle Management; Source Code Management; Build Orchestration; Build Management; Artifact Repository Management; Automated Testing including Unit Testing, Integration Testing, Functional Testing; Static Code Analysis; Load and Performance Testing; Artifact Scanning; Orchestration and Recovery; Compliance Automation and Audit Trails; Configuration Management; Containers; Application Release Automation; Logging and Log Analytics; and Performance Monitoring and Management.
  • Active participant with the Truist Agile Guild and Agile DevOps Communities of Practice.
  • Lead DevSecOps Engineer will be responsible a larger scope of work and for providing technical and process guidance to junior and less experience team member.
