About The Position

The Lead DevOps Engineer will be a key investment towards improving overall DevOps maturity. The Lead Engineer will further Humana IT's mission to fortify security, implement standardized pipeline templates, and reduce friction while expediting value delivery, reduce risk, and enhance software quality overall. The Lead DevOps Engineer will bring in industry best-practices, collaborate with Enterprise DevOps and Engineering teams to mature DevOps platform, improve security posture, and reduce lead time for key deliverables. DevOps engineers in Humana IT are skilled at key cloud and automation technologies to improve productivity and developer experience to grow platform engineering at Humana. The Lead DevOps Engineer advises executives to develop functional strategies (often segment specific) on matters of significance. Exercises independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks and works under minimal supervision. Uses independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors and determining the best course of action.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or an equivalent technical field
  • 5+ years’ experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools like Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI to automate building, testing, and deploying applications
  • 3+ years’ experience implementing automation throughout the software delivery pipeline
  • Proficiency using version control systems (Git, Github etc.) and branching strategies (e.g., GitFlow)
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Shell scripting, or Ruby, and understanding programming languages such as Java, dot Net, JavaScript, or Go for automation and tool development
  • Prior experience fostering a culture of collaboration between development and operations teams to promote transparency, shared responsibility, and streamlined processes, resulting in faster change lead times
  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience with Docker for creating, deploying, and managing containers, and Kubernetes for container orchestration
  • Proficiency with tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible to automate the provisioning and management of infrastructure
  • Ability to set up and manage monitoring and logging solutions like Prometheus, ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana), or Splunk for proactive issue detection and troubleshooting
