About The Position

The Lead Dental Assistant plays a key leadership role within the clinical team, supporting providers, mentoring dental assistants, and ensuring smooth day-to-day back-office operations. Requirements

Active Oregon Dental Assistant certification (EFDA or Expanded Functions preferred, if applicable)
Minimum 2–3 years of dental assisting experience
Strong knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and infection control protocols
Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
Ability to multitask, manage time effectively, and stay calm under pressure

Nice To Haves

Prior lead, senior, or mentoring experience strongly preferred
Experience with digital charting and modern dental technology preferred

Responsibilities

Serve as a clinical leader and primary resource for dental assistants
Provide onboarding, training, and ongoing mentorship for DA team members
Promote best practices, consistency, and efficiency in clinical workflows
Support schedule flow and assist with daily huddles and team communication
Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including restorative, surgical, and preventive treatments
Prepare operatories, instruments, and materials according to established protocols
Take digital X-rays and intraoral photos as needed
Ensure patient comfort and provide exceptional chairside support
Review and update medical histories and documentation at each visit
Maintain infection control, sterilization, and OSHA compliance standards
Monitor inventory and assist with ordering clinical supplies
Ensure proper use and maintenance of clinical equipment
Accurately document patient care and treatment notes in the EHR system
