About The Position

Essential Functions: Promotes teamwork and enhances a positive work environment. Encourages, supports teamwork, and mutual respect among all coworkers. Coordinates with all members of the Dental Team and the Chief Dental Officer to identify and address opportunities to provide better patient care and services. Determines work priorities and assigns work to ensure timely workflow for patient care. Assists in center with patient care as needed. Including, but not limited to, seating patients, assisting the Dental Provider chair-side, referrals, and phone calls. Completes dental prior authorization process by compiling necessary x-rays and clinical notes, sending to appropriate payor, receiving approvals and coordinating appeals for denials, documenting progress and appointing the patient for approved treatment. Assumes self -responsibility for all direct patient care activities as indicated by the Chief Dental Officer within the scope of his/her professional license/certification. Responsible for training Dental Assistants Responsible for aiding the Chief Dental Office in the training of Dentists. Participate in daily huddles with Dental Staff Monitors and documents Prosthetic laboratory cases plus corresponding invoices Corresponds with prosthetic laboratory to ensure case delivery and scheduled patients are aligned. Prepares operatory for patient treatment as per dental Department protocols and the dentists. Serves as dentist's or dental hygienist's chairside assistant when needed. Assists with dental charting during exams and explaining treatment plans to the patient. Performs independent procedures as delegated and directed by the dentist in accordance with state regulation and law and Dental Department directive and protocol. Maintains Dental Department equipment in accordance with manufacturer's directions and Dental Department policy and procedure. Maintains all Dental Department areas in compliance with department's directives and protocols as well as center policies and procedures relative to infection control and safety issues. Maintains adequate operatory supplies and compiles a list of individual item shortages for inventory control and ordering purposes. Maintains a list of all Dental Department patients, monitors patient flow, and assists the Chief Dental Officer, dentist(s), and dental hygienist(s), in assuring that all patient records and documents are properly and accurately completed and filed. Assists patients in resolving minor difficulties, answering their questions, and giving directions to patients as authorized by the dentist or dental hygienist. Assists with giving oral instructions after any procedure such as extraction, filings, and exams. Assists with making sure the patient has all necessary forms, such as referral forms, medical clearance forms and prescriptions. Assists with various clinical and administrative functions of the center as appropriate and time permits. Ensures the sterility of all reusable dental equipment in accordance with Dental Department directive and protocol. Ensures the sterility of all reusable dental instruments and equipment in accordance with Dental Department directive and protocol. Properly disposes all contaminated or potentially hazardous materials in accordance with Dental Department directive, center policy, as well as state and federal regulations. Fabricates and explains to the patient the dental service fee agreement form Staff Responsibilities: No supervisory duties Education / Experience

Requirements

  • Certified Dental Assistant in the state of Pennsylvania.
  • PA X-Ray Certification Required
  • 3-5 years' experience in clinical or community resource settings; Care coordination and/or case management experience is desirable.
  • Highly organized with the ability to keep accurate notes and records.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with health IT systems and reports is desirable.
  • Local knowledge about and connections to community health care and social welfare resources is desirable.
