The Lead Data Systems Engineer will be responsible for developing and optimizing our data-driven manufacturing, quality, and repair processes. This is a unique hybrid role, ideal for a candidate with a full-stack development background who is also passionate about data analysis, automation, and infrastructure management. The primary customers of the Data Systems Team are Matterport’s manufacturing partners and fellow engineers, enabling them to calibrate, test, and repair cameras without interruption. This role reports directly to Matterport’s Director of Manufacturing Engineering. This position is in Sunnyvale, CA and is onsite Monday through Friday.

  • Design, develop, and maintain full-stack applications and tools for our Manufacturing and Repair Operations.
  • Create and maintain intuitive front-end interfaces for operators and robust back-end services to manage data.
  • Design and implement automation scripts and workflows to streamline data collection, reporting, analysis and system integrations.
  • Work with overseas suppliers to debug and root-cause failed tests and data transfers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to streamline data collection and management.
  • Identify deficiencies in all areas of existing operations workflow and implement CI/CD changes to address.
  • Provide design considerations for current and next generation products.
  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of experience in designing, building, testing, and deploying data system pipelines.
  • Expert in managing multiple GitHub repositories.
  • Proficiency in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, along with a modern framework like React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Strong back-end development skills with Python and Java.
  • Proficiency in AWS, Docker, and other cloud solutions.
  • Strong Linux background.
  • In-depth understanding of Design for Testability (DFT).
  • Must be able to work with various database types (MariaDB, Snowflake, SQL Server).
  • Strong knowledge of SQL queries and database management.
  • Competence in data mining, analysis, and visualization.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal guidance and able to handle multiple tasks.
  • Hands-on, detail-oriented, and organized.
