The Lead Data Scientist at Albertsons Companies will play a pivotal role in transforming the food and drug retail industry by leveraging data science to enhance customer experiences and optimize operations. This position involves working with large datasets to develop machine learning algorithms and predictive models that address various business needs, ultimately driving growth and innovation within the company.

  • Identify and provide solutions and tooling built on predictive modeling and machine learning algorithms to satisfy various business needs.
  • Use machine learning algorithms to generate customer behavior segmentation and build recommendation engines for personalized user experiences.
  • Apply predictive modeling techniques to forecast operational demands and deploy real-time learning algorithms to optimize forecasts.
  • Build data science solutions to solve complex problems and fuel growth initiatives for Digital, Merchandising, Marketing, and Loyalty teams.
  • Extract insights and scale sentiment analysis using Natural Language Processing (NLP) from customer feedback.
  • Develop adaptable NLP solutions including text categorization, domain classification, event detection, and topic modeling.
  • Design experiments and conduct A/B Testing analysis to improve customer experience in physical stores and on digital platforms.
  • Apply statistical analysis to detect anomalies in systems and outliers in operational metrics for operational excellence.
  • Convey sophisticated machine learning and modeling solutions with intuitive visualizations and effective communications.
  • Master's or PhD degree in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Math, or Statistics.
  • 7+ years of industry experience in applying data science and modeling methodologies including regression models, survival models, ensemble modeling, NLP, recommendation algorithms, clustering, and deep learning.
  • 5+ years of experience and proficiency in Python and/or Spark-ML.
  • 5+ years of SQL development skills, including writing complex queries and transforming data.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in building data science solutions on big data platforms such as Snowflake, Spark, or Hadoop.
  • Proven track record of leveraging data science solutions to drive impactful business decisions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex machine learning solutions to different audiences.
  • Experience with Snowflake and Azure Databricks.
  • Experience using data access tools and building dashboards with large datasets from multiple data sources.
