Requirements

  • MA/MSC/Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Economics or other quantitative field.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in developing and implementing predictive models across the life cycle of the claim for commercial insurance.
  • Knowledge of embedding various 3rd party commercial insurance data sources into models and claim applications.
  • Proficiency in Python and R.
  • Experience with machine learning algorithms (i.e. GLM, Boosting, Deep Learning, etc.).
  • Familiarity with model performance measures and validation techniques (i.e. K-fold cross-validation, train/test split, etc.).
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases (both transactional and analytical environments).
  • Ability to deploy predictive models into production.
  • Experience with collaborative development and version control systems (i.e. Git).
  • Ability to communicate complex data in a simple, actionable way.
  • Ability to visualize data effectively for projects or studies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with team members from different backgrounds.
  • Excellent attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong leadership and managerial capabilities.
  • Familiarity with cloud environments and services.
  • Experience in developing effective monitoring of predictive models’ performance.
  • Experience supporting other business functions (e.g. Loss control, Operations, Marketing, Pricing).
  • Comfort with Unix-like operating systems and shell environments (i.e. Bash).
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks like Tensorflow or PyTorch and associated high-level APIs like Keras.
  • Familiarity with numpy, pandas, sklearn, matplotlib.
  • Experience with dplyr, data.table, ggplot2.
  • Web-application development skills (Javascript, Node, Flask, Shiny, etc.).
  • Experience with web-scraping.

  • Lead projects and unveil insights in data to improve claims decision-making process at operational and strategic levels.
  • Use the latest machine learning algorithms to develop predictive models for claims development.
  • Help predict the development of claims more accurately and handle claims more effectively.
