About The Position

GoodRx is hiring a Lead Data Engineer to support ScriptDrop, our prescription delivery and pharmacy connectivity platform. This role will collaborate and work with teams across GoodRx to build outstanding data pipelines and processes that stitch together complex sets of data stores in order to guide business decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in analytics, engineering, computer science, information technology, or related field—or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in the data engineering or analytics space.
  • Expert proficiency with: SQL (complex transformations, performance tuning) Python dbt ETL/ELT pipeline development
  • Strong experience with data modeling, schema design, and data cataloging.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze large datasets, identify inconsistencies, debug data issues, and propose scalable solutions.
  • Deep familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCS, BigQuery, Cloud Functions/Run, IAM).
  • Experience with data warehouse platforms such as BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, or Databricks.
  • Ability to quickly understand complex business domains and pick up new tools/tech rapidly.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and curious with a strong sense of ownership.
  • Thrives in a fast-moving startup environment with evolving priorities.
  • Engineering teams are responsible for supporting appropriate security controls, including management, operational, and technical controls in addition to general GoodRx best practices, such as reading and adhering to the security policies and procedures, being vigilant and observant of potential security threats, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Metabase and/or Looker for dashboarding and semantic modeling.
  • Familiarity with GitHub, Jira, Docker, Terraform, or similar DevOps tools.
  • Experience with testing frameworks, data quality checks, and defining data quality metrics.
  • AWS, Kafka, Databricks, or similar certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, analysts, and engineers to define business requirements and translate them into scalable data solutions.
  • Plan, design, build, test, and deploy data warehouse, data mart, and ETL/ELT pipelines—primarily within Google Cloud and BigQuery.
  • Lead small to medium data projects, including scoping, design, documentation, and execution.
  • Architect and operate cloud-based data pipelines that support reporting, invoicing, and analytics use cases.
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and accessibility across internal and external data products.
  • Develop, document, and enforce coding and data modeling standards to improve code quality, maintainability, and system performance.
  • Serve as an in-house data expert, making recommendations on data design, pipeline improvements, and best practices.
  • Build and maintain: Internal dashboards and reporting packages (weekly, monthly operational and financial reporting). External reporting packages for customers, including standardized QBRs and trend analyses. Monthly invoicing logic, automated data workflows, and standardized datasets for finance.
  • Work cross-functionally to expand usage and value of the data warehouse, promoting a data-driven culture across the organization.
