The Lead Data Architecture Designer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the organization's data architecture. The role plays a critical role in migrating legacy systems to a modern technology stack, ensuring data integrity, security, and accessibility. The role works closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable and efficient data solutions. The role reports to the Director of Enterprise Data Architecture.

  • Lead Data Architecture Design and Implementation: Oversee data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing.
  • Migrate Legacy Systems: Transition from SQL Server-based data pipelines to Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and Power BI.
  • Develop Data Integration Solutions: Create workflows and pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Databricks.
  • Support Advanced Analytics: Design and implement data solutions for business intelligence and advanced analytics.
  • Ensure Data Quality and Security: Collaborate with the data governance team to maintain data quality, consistency, and security.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Understand and meet data requirements of business stakeholders.
  • Optimize Data Processes: Work with the data engineering team to enhance data processing, storage, and retrieval for better performance and scalability.
  • Provide Technical Leadership: Offer guidance and mentorship to the data team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or related field.
  • 5 years' experience as a data solutions architect, or related role.
  • Data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing.
  • Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, SQL Server and PowerBI.
  • Databricks solution development including Delta Live Tables in near-real time use cases.
  • Certification in Databricks, Azure, or related.
  • Skills - legacy SQL server-based systems, problem-solving, attention to detail, communication, and collaboration.
  • Ability to professionally communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
  • Ability to support a diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • Any advanced degree or equivalent experience, especially in computer science, IT, or a related field.
  • Strong or advanced proficiency in any of the above required skills/experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Microsoft Teams.
  • Experience with cloud platforms and big data technologies.
  • Knowledge of governance and compliance standards.
  • Experience with educational data systems.
