About The Position

As a Lead Data Architect you will be accountable for designing projects data architecture that meets the agreed business requirements through requirements analysis and cross-team collaboration. In this role you will engage with stakeholders to analyse business requirements, make recommendations and support the shaping of future data architecture plans. You will also apply data architecture processes including dimensional database design and architecture data modelling metadata repository and change management for projects. In addition you will provide data architecture support to internal and external clients, be responsible for the data architecture project activities, ensure that all activities are in compliance with existing strategies standards and processes.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in data strategy, governance, or data management roles.
  • Strong experience with Azure Data Services, Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Deep understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA, DCAM) and compliance requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with data cataloging, metadata management, and lineage tools (e.g., Microsoft Purview, Collibra).
  • Knowledge of AI/ML governance, including responsible AI principles.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, or Spark for data processing and analytics.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the Data & AI strategy in alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop a roadmap for data governance, security, and compliance.
  • Act as a thought leader, advising CTO's, product owner and managers and other stakeholders on best practices and emerging trends in AI and data governance.
  • Collaborate with Portfolio Architecture, Portfolio Engineering teams, Infrastructure, Security, and Support teams to ensure an integrated approach to data management.
  • Establish and enforce data governance policies, frameworks, and standards.
  • Oversee data cataloging, metadata management, and data lineage using tools like Microsoft Purview.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations such as GDPR.
  • Guide the design and implementation of data architecture using Azure Data Lake, Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric by defining guardrails and guidelines for design and development.
  • Define governance processes for Azure OpenAI, ML models, and data-driven AI solutions.
  • Provide training and mentorship to business and technical teams on data governance best practices.
