Lead Data Analyst

Chime Financial, IncSan Francisco, CA
4h$152,000 - $210,000Hybrid

About The Position

Chime is the largest and fastest-growing U.S. player in the challenger-banking space. Through our banking partners, we offer access to bank accounts with fee-free overdraft, provide members the chance to receive early access to their paychecks, help them improve their credit, and more. We created Chime because we believe everyone deserves financial peace of mind. We’re looking for a Lead Data Analyst to drive forecasting for key growth and revenue drivers and deliver insights that shape business decisions. You’ll own end-to-end forecasting workstreams such as member growth, purchase volume, deposit volume, and intramonth performance tracking - while partnering closely across Analytics, Data Science, Product, Marketing, and Investor Relations. This role is ideal for someone who’s highly analytical and model-driven, but equally strong at turning numbers into a clear narrative that leaders can act on. The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $152,000 and up to $210,000. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.

Requirements

  • 4–8 years of experience in forecasting, finance analytics, strategic finance, or a similar quantitative role (fintech/payments/consumer financial services is a plus).
  • Demonstrated ability to own forecasting end-to-end and deliver decision-driving insights to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong modeling instincts: comfortable living in the details (assumptions, drivers, sensitivities) while keeping the business story straight.
  • Excellent communication: able to translate analytical output into crisp narratives, tradeoffs, and recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Expert SQL skills - able to translate business questions into robust queries, understand edge cases, and explore a warehouse efficiently to find the right data.
  • Proficiency in Python or R - writes reproducible, well-structured code with a tendency toward automation and scalable analysis.
  • High accountability, strong judgment, and comfort operating in ambiguity and fast-moving environments.

Responsibilities

  • Own core forecasting workstreams for key business metrics (e.g., member growth, purchase volume, deposit volume), including in-year outlooks and contributions to longer-range forecasting.
  • Build, maintain, and improve forecasting models that are accurate, transparent, and scalable; document assumptions and create repeatable processes.
  • Run intramonth pacing, variance, and sensitivity analyses, identifying key drivers and surfacing risks/opportunities early.
  • Develop scenarios and “what-if” analyses to support planning and real-time decision-making (e.g., upside/downside cases, impact of product or marketing changes).
  • Partner cross-functionally to align inputs and assumptions, reconcile differences across reporting/forecasting views, and ensure a single source of truth where possible.
  • Own unit economics and profitability analytics, including LTV/CAC, ROI analysis, and framework development for evaluating product and growth initiatives.
  • Improve dashboards and forecasting tooling (spreadsheets, Looker/Pigment or similar) to increase visibility, consistency, and speed of insight.

Benefits

  • Our in-office work policy is designed to keep you connected - with four days a week in the office and Fridays from home for those near one of our offices, plus team and company-wide events depending on location. Whether you’re coming in regularly or are part of our fully remote program, you’ll stay engaged with your work and teammates.
  • In-office perks including backup child, elder, and/or pet care, plus a subsidized commuter benefit to support your regular commute
  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • 401k match plus great medical, dental, vision, life, and disability benefits
  • Generous vacation policy and company-wide Chime Days, bonus company-wide paid days off
  • 1% of your time off to support local community organizations of your choice
  • Annual wellness stipend to use towards eligible wellness related expenses
  • Up to 24 weeks of paid parental leave for birthing parents and 12 weeks of paid parental leave for non-birthing parents
  • Access to Maven, a family planning tool, with $15k lifetime reimbursement for egg freezing, fertility treatments, adoption, and more.
  • In-person and virtual events to connect with your fellow Chimers—think cooking classes, guided meditations, music festivals, mixology classes, paint nights, etc., and delicious snack boxes, too!
  • A challenging and fulfilling opportunity to join one of the most experienced teams in FinTech and help millions unlock financial progress
