The Lead Custodian plays an essential role in providing a clean, safe, and orderly environment while overseeing and training custodial staff. Oversees and participates in all cleaning functions, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, and deep cleaning floors and carpets; washing windows and walls; cleaning restrooms; disposing of rubbish; and ensuring all areas of the building are clean, sanitary, and orderly in accordance with Labor, Industry, and OSHA standards. Reviews and confirms event plans with the Custodial Supervisor/Manager and the Events Analyst/Scheduler through CCB (Community Church Builder) for proper implementation and setup. Demonstrates a professional, courteous, positive, and helpful attitude toward all team members and staff. Oversees the assignment of rooms to custodians and provides direction, feedback, and guidance to ensure proper cleaning practices and completion of room setups as directed by the Custodial Manager, outlined in CCB, or indicated by posted room setup diagrams. Dedicates approximately 30% of assigned shift time to routinely inspecting the quality of cleaning and accuracy of room setups. Documents assigned work that was and was not completed and communicates this information to the overlapping Lead Custodian or Custodial Manager at the end of each shift. Reports recurring policy or procedure violations, safety concerns, work performance deficiencies, tardiness, or improper work attire to the Custodial Manager. Facilitates the maintenance and repair of furniture and equipment, including tagging items, relocating furniture as needed, and explaining required repairs. Follows through to ensure furniture and equipment repairs are completed in a timely manner. Opens and secures the building when necessary to ensure proper building security at all times. Other duties as assigned.
