About The Position

We are seeking a professional and dedicated Lead Culinary Services Aide to join our culinary team. As the Lead Culinary Services Aide, you will play an essential role in enhancing the hospital’s retail and dining services program. You will help improve menu offerings, elevate food presentation, and create an outstanding dining experience in a healthcare setting. This position also requires an understanding of therapeutic diets and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and quality care. Requirements

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1 year of food preparation and service experience
  • ServSafe certification required if no certification must be obtained within 3 months of employment
  • Knowledge of food handlers and safety regulations
  • Proven track record of integrity
  • Excellent verbal/written and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Must be detail oriented and accurate
  • Ability to multitask while working in a pressured environment; always operating as part of a team
  • Verbal and writing abilities necessary to communicate and work effectively with various levels of staff, residents, family members and the public.
  • Numerical ability necessary to make various computations in keeping work records, and in recipe preparation.
  • Motor coordination and manual dexterity are required to prepare food and operate dietary equipment.
  • Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions. An appreciation of the value of food and dietary equipment and an awareness of the requirement for careful handling and economy of serving.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow recipe directions, diet orders and work assignments. Able and willing to work flexible hours, such as during an emergency situation. Must be patient and tolerant toward staff, residents, and family members.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets and healthcare food service regulations preferred
  • Previous food service or retail experience preferred
  • Must have the ability to coach others.
  • Proven ability to coach and teach within the kitchen.
  • Ability to lead a group of your peers.

Responsibilities

  • Take and process breakfast, lunch, and dinner orders for patients, residents, and staff
  • Serve residents in the dining room during meal service
  • Prepare and package grab-and-go items, including salads, sandwiches, and other retail selections
  • Make coffee, chargers, smoothies, and develop new specialty drink offerings
  • Perform minimal cooking and food preparation as needed
  • Stock and maintain retail and dining areas
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation standards are consistently met
  • Operate the point-of-sale system and process cash and credit card payments
  • Contribute ideas to enhance menu options and overall food presentation
  • Support and lead a positive, team-oriented environment focused on hospitality and service excellence
