JOB TITLE: Lead CT Technologist SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports directly to Radiation Manager SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Daily operations in the CT department TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination for operation and repair of all department equipment. Lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires eye sight correctable to 20/20 to operate equipment and review developed film. Prolonged sitting and computer usage. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned) Provide clinical oversight with staff and daily operations. Ensure that clinical work is complete. Make sure that billing is complete and accurate daily. In situations of staff shortages, coordinate coverage and consult Radiation Manager. Ensure policies and procedures are followed. Train clinical staff in new procedures. Role models proactive, collaborative working relationships across all treatment center functions in an interdisciplinary approach to patient care. Directs the day-to-day operations of the CT schedule, providing direction to staff. Supervises technical operations and technical staff throughout the treatment centers. Ensures that proper procedure coding and charge capture procedures are in effect. Participates in the development and implementation of quality assurance monitors and performance improvement programs to ensure quality patient care. This would be in conjunction with our physics department. Cooperates fully in all risk management activities and investigations. Provides leadership to the staff, ensuring efficient and effective function and service operation. Participates in daily HOA functions, meetings, and committees as needed. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends in field of expertise, as well as encouraging and facilitating participation of assigned staff. Prepare CT suite for each patient, including loading contrast injector and reviewing pre-CT lab results and CT orders Prepare and instruct patient on procedure for oral and IV contrast according to protocol. Review patient questionnaire and obtain signed consent for IV contrast exams. Place IV line for IV contrast administration. Review patient’s medical history, symptoms, and relevant prior imaging exams before scanning. 20. Perform CT examinations on Siemens Somatom Definition AS Open scanner according to protocols provided by reading Radiologists. 21. Perform post-processing of images as required by protocols or Radiologist/Oncologist request. 22. Review CT images and transmit to Radiologists upon completion of scan. 23. Work with Radiation Therapy Technologists and Radiation Oncologists on RT planning/simulations. 24. Perform daily and monthly QA procedures for CT scanner, as well as daily warm-up/calibration, and keep records in compliance with ACR and NYS regulations. 25. Maintain CT policy/procedure manuals. 26. Burn CDs of patient exams from scanner or PACS as needed. 27. Stock supplies in CT suite. 28. Review CT orders and labs (GFR) for next day’s scans and enter medical/oncologic history with reason for scan in radiology information system (IDX). 29. Maintains patient confidentiality. 30. Performs related work as required. 31. Reviews scan images with MD as requested. 32. Maintains policy & procedure manual according to NYSDOH regulations. 33. Assist in department or company projects.
