About The Position

This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed Radiologic Technologist leader interested in cross-training in CT Scan as a lead. We seek a highly motivated Radiologic Technologist leaders who are eager to expand their skills and learn a new modality. As a CT lead trainee, you'll receive comprehensive, hands-on training under the supervision of experienced CT technologists. You'll learn to operate CT equipment, prepare and position patients, place IVs, and capture high-quality diagnostic images. Once trained, you'll ensure patient comfort and safety while producing accurate scans for medical analysis, recognizing image quality and abnormalities. This role is ideal for diagnostic imaging leaders who are passionate about patient care, teamwork, and advancing their imaging career. A candidate will under general supervision of CT Scan leadership but in accordance with established curriculum and procedures, observe and operate a CT scanner and related equipment to produce diagnostic images of any designated anatomical area. Requirements

  • Must be registered and in good standing with the American Registry of Radiological Technology (ARRT)
  • Must hold a current CPR certification from AHA, BLS for Healthcare Providers.
  • Must have a RI state radiation license from the DOH.
  • Minimum 2-year Diagnostic Imaging lead experience
  • No disciplinary action in the past 12 months
  • Provide a recommendation from their supervisor.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic and initiative in their current position
  • Must have strong computer skills
  • Must agree to take the ARRT exam in CT imaging within 45 days of program completion

Responsibilities

  • Participate in clinical rotations under the supervision of certified CT technologists.
  • Assist in patient preparation, including explaining procedures and ensuring patient comfort.
  • Operate CT machines to acquire diagnostic images, following established protocols.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and imaging documentation using two patient identifiers
  • Sets up the imaging room to coincide with the examination being performed to include the use of proper isolation precautions when needed.
  • Execute paperwork and Radiology Information System functions as necessary for each patient exam (e.g. schedule exam, complete exam, transfer images to PACS, etc.) using the Electronic Health Record.
  • Sets up trays utilizing sterile technique, performs time out, prepares contrasts and assists physicians in performing procedures.
  • Starting and maintaining intravenous (IV) access as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.
  • Learn and practice appropriate patient care techniques, including assessing patient history and addressing patient concerns during the CT process.
  • Assist in positioning patients correctly to capture the required images.
  • Monitor patients during the imaging process for safety and well-being.
  • Interacts collaboratively with all departments and units to coordinate patient care.
  • Identifying, preparing, and/or administering medications as prescribed per protocol.
  • Adhere to radiation safety standards, including the safe use of CT equipment and ensuring ALARA.
  • Follow hospital and department policies regarding patient confidentiality and ethical standards in healthcare.
  • Gain hands-on experience in operating CT scanners, troubleshooting issues, and adjusting parameters to optimize image quality.
  • Learn to interpret basic CT scans, understand imaging sequences, and recognize artifacts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
