About The Position

The Lead Course Supervisor is a Ministerial position. Ministerial staff render their work, stewardship, relationships, and behavior as evidence of being followers of Jesus Christ while embracing and affirming Mount Hermon Association, lnc.'s ("MHA") Christian mission, vision, beliefs, and standards of conduct. They are responsible for defining, cultivating, and leading MHA's Christian community, conference programs, and retreats. All staff join into our community life of prayer, worship, and spiritual activity, including but not limited to staff meetings, attendance at programs, Bible Study, and staff gatherings. The Adventure Assistant Course Manager provides leadership and direction to the Adventure Programs at the Conference Center. This role ensures guest and employee safety, fiscal responsibility, and quality program delivery in a manner consistent with MHA's mission, vision, and values.

Requirements

  • College degree and/or significant documented relevant experience required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in adventure/recreation, including guiding, building, and training.
  • Documented leadership experience in leading staff groups, training, and managing major projects or initiatives.
  • Documented challenge course and/or adventure/recreation programming experience required.
  • Demonstrated administrative experience required.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with staff and guests with courtesy and professionalism.
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and thrive in a fast­paced team environment without constant supervision.
  • Ability to exercise discretion, sound judgment, and decisive action when necessary.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, with the aptitude to learn new software systems.
  • Flexible nature with the ability to change plans with tact and grace.
  • Comfortable giving and receiving constructive feedback.
  • Desire to work within and contribute to a positive team setting with diverse people.
  • Required to work both indoors and outdoors in inclement weather at heights up to 150ft.
  • Required to talk and hear both in person (close and long distances) and via radio.
  • Requires sitting, standing, lifting, bending, climbing, squatting, and twisting.
  • Must possess the physical ability to rescue a 250 lb. person using high-angle rope rescue techniques.
  • Position requires weekends, holidays, long hours, and flexibility for "on-call" shifts.
  • Must possess a clean driving record (at least three years) and agree to comply with MHA's guidelines for company and personal vehicle use.
  • Adherence to the principles expressed in MHA's mission, vision, culture code, and standards of conduct.
  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming.
  • Satisfactory completion of a background investigation and proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

  • ACCT Course Manager Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Staff Supervision: Assist the Course Manager in overseeing the training and supervision of employees working on ropes elements, including Redwood Canopy Tour, Sequoia Aerial Adventure, Zayante, Discovery Grove, Climbing Wall, Redwood Camp, Ponderosa, and Kidder Creek.
  • Operations: Participate in Operations Supervisor duties.
  • Safety & Maintenance: Assist in the oversight of projects, maintenance, and course inspections to ensure absolute guest and employee safety.
  • Scheduling: Collaborate with the Course Manager and other department managers to schedule, forecast, and optimize staffing levels.
  • Hospitality Leadership: Lead by example, exercising and promoting an attitude of hospitality in all interactions with guests and staff.
  • Construction: Partner with the Adventure Course Manager to lead in-house building projects.
  • General Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
