About The Position

The YMCA is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join their Summer Camp team as Lead Counselors. This role offers a fun, rewarding, and impactful summer job opportunity to work with children, lead exciting activities, and foster a positive, nurturing environment where campers can grow, learn, and have an unforgettable summer. Lead Counselors, who are part-time staff, will assist the Program Director in overseeing the daily functions of the Summer Day Camp for their assigned group(s).

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent communication, supervisory, and organizational skills.
• Excellent human relation skills and enthusiasm.
• Basic math skills and demonstrated recordkeeping proficiency.
• An elevated level of organization, flexibility, and ability to handle difficult situations effectively.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Successfully complete within 60 days of hire: CPR/First Aid/O2 Certification, Bloodborne Pathogen training, Child Abuse Prevention training, and all other required training as specified by your supervisor.

Nice To Haves

• 1-3 Years of Higher Education or the equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Program Director oversee the daily functions of the Summer Day Camp for their assigned group(s).
• Have a warm, engaging, and friendly demeanor that is able to connect quickly with program participants, parents, and supervisors.
• Actively engage with and provide quality care for program participants in order to deliver a quality childcare experience.
• Demonstrate good communication, accounting, and organizational skills.
