Job Description Job Summary Supervises a small crew and takes part in corrosion work involving installing and maintaining gas distribution systems. What you will do Supervises a small crew, as required, engaged in cathodic protection for installing and maintaining gas mains and services; prospecting for corrosion shorts, maintaining and operating rectifiers and rectifier systems, installing insulating devices. Plans, schedules, assigns and reviews the work of the individuals supervised. Investigates the quality of cathodic protection and initiating corrective action. Coordinates work for most efficient use of personnel and equipment. Takes part in installing and removing gas meters and regulators and valves as required, taking tests of pressures and odor levels, investigating and repairing leaks, operating and maintaining tools and equipment. Supervises, assists in planning and coordinating the physical and clerical work involved with corrosion and leak protection on our gas systems. Observes system and plant gauges and charts and makes necessary adjustments to equipment as required, makes routine tests as directed. Responsible for proper record keeping and makes reports as required. Reads gas meters. Contacts customers or property owners regarding work to be done, plant outages, etc. Assists in proper training of assigned employees and general personnel, and other company personnel of equivalent or higher classification engaged in corrosion work, etc., may assist with selection of personnel. Performs all work according to established company procedures and safety practices. Performs other duties which are similar, related or incidental to this position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Mathematics and physics at a high school level.
  • 2 years' experience in the more skilled phases of gas distribution work
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License prior to the end of trial period
  • This position is covered by the Department of Transportation regulations on drug/alcohol testing (CFR 49, Parts 40, 199 and 382), and is subject to drug/alcohol testing according to said regulations.
  • Knowledge of state and local regulations and company policies pertaining to gas distribution work
  • Demonstrated knowledge of advanced cathodic protection and leak detection.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise others.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job.
  • Keen sense of responsibility to both customer's and company's property.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
