About The Position
This position is located at Orange Correctional Center in Hillsborough, NC. Orange County. Orange Correctional Center is a male minimum custody facility. Reporting to the Correctional Sergeant I, this position is responsible for supervision of offenders and staff. This position responsibilities include the following: Ensure the care, custody, and control of offenders. Tour assigned areas which will require periodically climbing stairs. Observe Offender activity in person and on closed-circuit monitors. Identify offenders who have behavioral, medical, or other problems so that appropriate safety and security measures may be taken. Perform general security duties to prevent escape, disorder, rule infractions, and harm to offenders, visitors, and staff. Perform searches offenders, visitors, cells and other areas for weapons and contraband. Monitor and regulate offender and staff movement. Maintain and record offender counts, cell assignments, and other pertinent information. Escort offenders within and outside the institution. Use and maintain keys and other equipment. Supervise offender work details. Supervise staff. Provide custody supervision for offenders housed in a restrictive housing area, including Intensive Control, Administrative Segregation, and Disciplinary Segregation. Enforce rules and regulations for safety, health, and protection of offenders.
