About The Position

Western Home Communities is looking for a passionate and dedicated Lead Cook to join our team! As a Lead Cook, you will play a crucial role in preparing high-quality meals for our residents, ensuring a safe and sanitary cooking environment, and maintaining inventory. Key Responsibilities: Meal Preparation & Cooking: Actively participate in planning, preparing, cooking, and serving high-quality, flavorful, and visually appealing meals for residents. Organization: Maintain organization of food, supplies, dinnerware, and food service equipment. Inventory & Ordering: Complete weekly inventory checks and place orders for necessary food items to maintain stock levels. Safety & Sanitation: Ensure the cooking area adheres to safety and sanitation standards, complying with all applicable regulations. Positive Interaction: Foster positive interactions with staff and residents, ensuring a welcoming environment. Regulatory Compliance: Maintain necessary certifications, including food handling and safety, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Valid ServSafe certificate (or local equivalent).
  • Previous experience in a food service setting.
  • Strong customer service background and the ability to interact effectively with others.
  • Familiarity with kitchen tools, pan sizes, knives, and food labels.
  • Ability to read basic English, including a limited number of two- and three-syllable words, and understand numbers.
  • Ability to perform basic math operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed.
