About The Position

Utilizing a full-service kitchen, the Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious meals ensuring special dietary needs are incorporated into the menu for clients in a residential treatment facility or preparing pre-packaged snacks for outpatient treatment programs. The Cook is responsible for maintaining appropriate health standards for food preparation and kitchen cleanliness, as well as maintain a professional yet friendly relationship with residential and outpatient program clients who may be in an interim recovery point in their lives. The Cook must be able to work split shift hours when required. This position must be able to maintain client confidentiality in accordance with state guidelines and HIPAA requirements.

Requirements

  • Age 18 or older
  • Able to pass Minnesota DHS background study
  • Daily use of computer, phone, and kitchen facility equipment.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time, lifting requirement will not be more than 50lbs unassisted independently with frequent reaching, bending and stooping.
  • Ability to effectively navigate program or office environment such as ascending and descending steps, passing through doorways and entrances, and accessing program/office facilities.
  • Broad cooking skills in a variety of venues with regard to the preparation and serving of nutritional meals on a full service, 3 meal a day basis
  • Working knowledge of kitchen operating procedures including food handling and cleanliness following Safe Serv practices
  • Proficiently understand, follow instructions, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Able to effectively document services in writing formatted in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 years related experience preparing food in a “scratch” kitchen
  • Previous experience in an addiction treatment residential facility
  • Safe Serv Certification
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work on a team
  • Ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds
  • Minnesota Driver’s License without restrictions
