About The Position

Desert View Hospital is a 25-bed, acute care hospital set in a rural community. Desert View provides safe and competent nursing care for patients in accordance with facility policies, standards, and philosophy. We provide professional leadership and support to the healthcare team. The concepts of Patient Centered Care will provide the foundation for all nursing care. Demonstrates Service Excellence standards at all times.
Description: Responsible for the timely preparation, seasoning and cooking of food for patients, employees, physicians and visitors. Performs similar or related duties and is able to develop, train and orient cooks.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Graduate from a formal school specializing in institutional cooking preferred.
• Minimum 2 years experience with commercial cooking or equivalent.
• Knowledge of ordering and basic inventory processes.
• Experience with Medical Nutritional Therapy (MNT) as it relates to Therapeutic Diets preferred.
• Current Southern Nevada Health District Food Handler Safety Training Card.
• Must achieve ServSafe Certification within 90 days of employment.
• Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide service appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit/department.
