About The Position

A Lead Cook at Aztec Grill (Redwood Market) drives the success of our foodservice program by preparing and serving high-quality food, ensuring consistency, and engaging customers with great service. The Lead Cook oversees grill operations, monitors food production and sales trends, and adjusts preparation levels as business volumes dictate to meet demand while maintaining freshness and quality. Requirements

  • High School/GED preferred.
  • Flexible availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • 1+ year experience as a cook, line cook, or kitchen lead.
  • Food Handler Permit as required by county, city, or state or be able to obtain one within 30 days.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and handling procedures.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills to balance prep, cooking, and service demands.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills with a customer-first attitude.
  • Must be able to stand for an extended period.
  • While performing the duties of this job, frequently required to stand, walk, bend, and twist; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; and talk and listen.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 65 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a convenience store or quick-service restaurant (QSR) setting a plus.
  • Experience training, mentoring, or supporting team members in foodservice operations.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support training of team members in Aztec Grill operations and safety standards.
  • Provide courteous and professional customer service.
  • Prepare and serve food according to recipes and brand standards.
  • Maintain appropriate prep levels and adjust food production to meet demand.
  • Ensure proper sanitation, food handling, prep, storage, and disposal procedures.
  • Maintain and clean food service equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Monitor and log food temperatures and waste daily, ensuring compliance with food safety and hold times.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe grill and work environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
