About The Position

Vibra Healthcare is seeking a Lead Cook to join our team at the San Joaquin Valley Rehabilitation Hospital in Fresno, CA. This 62-bed acute rehab hospital provides rehabilitative services to individuals recovering from disabilities due to injuries or illnesses. Our mission is to help patients regain their physical or cognitive abilities, enabling them to return home at their highest level of independence. As a smaller, specialized hospital, we offer a fast-paced and friendly work environment where staff can build meaningful relationships with patients and their families.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two (2) years of experience as a cook in lieu of education will be considered.
• Food handling certification as required by State regulations.

Nice To Haves

• Culinary arts training preferred.
• Two (2) years of food service experience preferred, including a minimum of one (1) year of experience cooking and working in an institutional setting.
• Therapeutic Diet experience preferred.
• Ability to project a professional image.
• Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
• Strong organizational, prioritizing, and analytical skills.
• Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
• Working knowledge of computer and software applications used in job functions.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of duties necessary for the operation of a hospital food service department.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, nutritional value, sanitation, safety, and presentation of food.
• Support department management in various administrative and leadership duties, including scheduling, mentoring new staff, competency assessment, performance improvement, and shift oversight.
