About The Position

Eaton's ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Lead Controls and Automation Engineer. This role is based in Waukesha, WI. Relocation assistance will be provided. The expected annual salary range for this role is $93750.03 - $137500.04 a year. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math or Science from an accredited institution.
  • Seven (7) years of test/controls engineering experience.
  • Seven (7) years of experience in many computer programming software such as visual basic/studio, SQL, and other Microsoft applications.
  • Seven (7) years of experience with PLC, HMI programming and safety systems design.

Nice To Haves

  • Ten (10) years Controls/Test engineering experience.
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certified; skilled in 8D, A3, FMEA, and Pareto/control charts.
  • Experienced in electrical testing and troubleshooting at component and system levels.
  • Proficient in NFPA 70E compliance and interpreting electrical schematics.
  • Supports ETO manufacturing and resolves complex design/production issues.
  • Project management experience with PROLaunch methodology.
  • Leads installation efforts and resolves contractor-related electrical challenges.
  • Skilled in NI LabVIEW, TestStand, Rockwell RSLogix (5/500/5000), Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View ME/SE, and VB6.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidelines for selecting test equipment and protocols, develop compliant specifications, and support, service, and troubleshoot electrical test systems.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and safe work practices, identify and mitigate hazards, and uphold a zero-incident culture through documentation and communication.
  • Partner with manufacturing, engineering, MESH, suppliers, and customers to align testing strategies and product standards.
  • Lead or support initiatives using Lean/Six Sigma tools, drive cost-out efforts, and monitor performance metrics.
  • Conduct failure analyses, apply problem-solving techniques, and mentor others in critical thinking.
  • Guide equipment selection, manage CARs for new programs, and actively participate in facility assessments.
  • Leverage innovation to enhance information systems and reduce inefficiencies in test data flow.
  • Lead projects with clear goals and budgets, align teams and stakeholders, and apply ADKAR and MOC frameworks to sustain operational improvements.
