About The Position

The Lead Control System Engineer is the technical authority for RoviSys’ automation projects. They drive the technical project lifecycle beginning at the conceptual design through commissioning. In this role, you will architect automation control systems, act as the primary technical point of contact with the client, and elevate a team of engineers to deliver quality, scalable automation solutions. You effectively bridge the gap between complex process requirements and technical execution, ensuring project’s technical deliverables are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest industry standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in automation industry with large scale project implementation from concept to commissioning
  • High level of proficiency in at least one complete automation pairing. Must possess deep, demonstrable experience programming Rockwell ControlLogix (PLC) paired with FactoryTalk View SE or Inductive Automation’s Ignition (HMI/SCADA) or other Graphics technology.
  • Strong understanding of complex industrial processes, such as continuous processing, batching, and Clean-in-Place (CIP) systems.
  • Self-motivated with excellent communication skills and an ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate effectively with cross functional teams and clients.
  • B.S. in Electrical, Chemical, or Computer Engineering or Engineering Technology or related degree

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within the food and beverage, or similar process heavy industry is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Ownership: You will own and lead the technical execution of assigned projects from conceptional design through commissioning and qualification, guiding small to medium sized engineering teams across different technology platforms.
  • Project Management Partnership: You will partner closely with project managers to define technical scopes, develop project schedules, and proactively identify scope change for change order development.
  • System Architecture: You will architect complete control system networks, IT/OT infrastructure, and advanced control strategies tailored to client’s process needs.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: You must demonstrate competency in our core automation platforms (Rockwell, Ignition, Siemens) and Industry processes acting as the final technical reviewer for project deliverables.
  • Requirements to Control System Translation: You will serve as the primary technical subject matter expert to the client, directly translating complex process requirements into control system configurations and engineering tasks.
  • Continuous Learning: You will demonstrate capability to continuously adapt and evaluate new technologies, integrating advanced automation concepts to innovate project efficiency and system reliability.
  • Client Facing: Leading design review meetings with the client serving as the primary technical authority and managing technical expectations.
  • System Development: Developing and programming complex control strategies and HMI/SCADA graphics from the ground up.
  • Technical Mentorship: Directly mentoring junior engineers, establishing programming standards, conducting code reviews, and unblocking technical hurdles. (Force Multiplier)
  • Process Documentation: Authoring, reviewing, and approving critical technical documentation, including design specifications for complex processes, network architecture diagrams, and testing protocols.
  • Hardware Design: Designing electrical control panels and specifying appropriate automation hardware for the application.
  • Development Testing: Establishing testing methodology and leading comprehensive simulation for Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) to validate system performance prior to deployment.
  • Commissioning: Establishing testing methodology and leading comprehensive Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
  • Travel: Traveling to the Client site for critical project milestones and leading final system commissioning and startup.
