WSP has an immediate need for a Lead Consultant with a specialization in Energy & Climate to join Built Ecology, WSP's growing buildings sustainability practice. This position will/could work out of WSP's offices in Seattle, WA; Los Angeles, CA; Chicago, IL; New York, NY; Arlington, VA or Denver, CO. The individual will grow and strengthen our team by securing, staffing, managing, and delivering complex projects and client-facing engagements. Candidates should be passionate about sustainability, exhibit technical knowledge in energy modeling and high performance building design, and demonstrate leadership skills and ability to deliver high‐quality products through appropriate time and priority management while leveraging resources and removing barriers and obstacles for the project team. As part of the Built Ecology team, you will lead detailed energy modeling and building performance analysis activities to achieve established performance targets, LEED certification, code compliance, and other energy performance goals. You will utilize energy modeling tools to complete carbon modeling and develop net zero carbon roadmaps, interpret climate information and building use typologies to inform building design strategies, and perform other building analysis such as daylight or renewable energy studies. Your role will also involve writing reports detailing analysis activities and design advice, liaising internally to facilitate the achievement of project sustainability objectives, and reviewing building documentation for the integration of high-performance design aspects. In addition, you will provide LEED and other certifications strategy and advice, particularly around energy and indoor environmental quality (IEQ) aspects, and deliver high performance design analysis and project design advice of a high technical standard, integrated across architecture and building systems. You will research new and existing technologies for application in the built environment with a focus on electrification, grid-interactive technologies, and district scale solutions. Coordinating with and presenting results and recommendations to the end client, user, and design team will also be a key part of your responsibilities. Finally, you will contribute to the development and improvement of analysis and project delivery standards to ensure a high quality of work is consistently delivered by the team.
