About The Position

Weekend Shift: Friday, Saturday, Sunday 6am to 6:30pm with a 30-minute lunch break. (3 days x 12 hour days) The weekend shift Lead machinist must be an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist skilled in setting up jobs, running live tooling, with sub-spindle and bar feeders. This role is responsible for the production volume and quality of the weekend shift. Must have strong knowledge in machine set ups. Hourly Rate $30+ per hour, negotiable based on skillset and experience.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of CNC Machining manufacturing experience utilizing aluminum.
  • Experienced leading others and is able to train and guide a small team.
  • Fluent in “Y” Lathes with live tooling.
  • Working knowledge of G-code and M-code.
  • Working knowledge of Algebra, Geometry and can do metric to imperial conversions.
  • Fluent in GD&T and machining blueprint reading.
  • Skilled in part inspection and accountable to quality of parts
  • OSHA 10-hour is minimum requirement
  • Ability to select, lift, carry, and stack product weighing between 30 and 50 pounds.
  • The ability to stand up to a total of 12 hours, with breaks while occasionally bending, stooping, and twisting and do repetitive work for 2 to 4 hours at a time.
  • The station have anti-fatigue mats and stools available when needed.
  • We are a Florida Drug Free Workplace. The company requires all employees to complete a pre-employment 10 panel drug screen; employment status will be dependent on ability to pass this screening and partake on a quarterly random screens.

Responsibilities

  • Lead weekend operations: select jobs and machine assignments
  • Train operators to perform their duties where machine operation and quality are concerned.
  • Solve problems when needed with program edits, fast/speed changes and quality issues
  • Responsible for making G and M Code adjustments and offsets as needed to maintain tolerances.
  • Keep machine setup times to a minimum and production to acceptable output levels.
  • Work with the CNC Programmer on improvements to programs.
  • Train operators on machine setups when they have shown proficiency in operating their machine and successfully run quality parts.
  • Perform basic routine maintenance of machines (clean and maintain, no mechanical repairs).
  • Maintain all paperwork associated with producing the part and keeping company records.
  • Observe safety policies and procedures snd operate in a safe manner.
