Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD) staff couple the latest in information system technologies, such as elastic compute clouds, containerization, microservices, real-time operating systems, and visualization frameworks, with expertise in cyber security, software architecture, software engineering, data science, Artificial Intelligence, process improvement, and software development to deliver responsive, resilient, high-performance software intensive systems to our Intelligence Community, DoD, and civilian customers. The Cloud Platforms & Architectures Department (CPAD) is the center-of-excellence for cloud computing and cloud-related technologies within The Aerospace Corporation. CPAD’s overall goal is to stay at the forefront of cloud technology to enable our customers to effectively leverage it to fulfill their space mission needs. CPAD serves several US government Intelligence Community (IC) customers to help with acquisition of cloud systems, including defining cloud architectures, prototyping new cloud technologies, reviewing government/contractor cloud systems, and interfacing with public cloud vendors. We are looking for a Lead Cloud Solutions Architect (Senior Project Leader, Cloud Computing Architecture) to act as a technical lead alongside customer facing teams for cloud engagements between the Aerospace Corporation and the Intelligence Community. This role will work strategically to develop and sustain technical relationships between CPAD and IC-facing Aerospace teams to increase Aerospace’s impact on government programs using cloud technologies. Work Model This is a fulltime position based in Chantilly, VA which requires 100% onsite work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related STEM field
  • At least 12 years of experience working with software, IT systems, and related technologies.
  • At least 5 years of experience working with cloud systems.
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining relationships with customers and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams, coordinating complex technical tasks among team members, and translating customer needs into viable instructions for engineers.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete tasks, learn new technical approaches, and interact effectively with a broad range of organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to create a positive team culture, mentor team members, and work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • In depth knowledge and hands on experience with at least one public cloud vendor (e.g., Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Experience in designing, developing, implementing, operating, and evolving cloud systems to support customers.
  • Willing to travel domestically to work locations, customer sites, and conferences up to 15%, if required.
  • This position requires an active TS/SCI clearance issued by the U.S. government.
  • U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

  • Certifications related to cloud computing (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Engineer).
  • Certifications related to cloud computing (e.g., Security+, CISSP).

  • Knowledge of technology vendor product lifecycles.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a primary point of contact for technical questions and cloud project leadership for IC-facing Aerospace customer teams.
  • Work across IC-facing customer teams to create a broader strategy for cloud usage within customer organizations.
  • Lead teams researching cutting edge cloud technologies and developing prototypes to demonstrate and benchmark their capabilities for intelligence community missions.
  • Lead deep technical discussions with government customers and cloud vendors to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in cloud.
  • Work across corporate stakeholders to define necessary cloud environments for IC-focused cloud research and prototyping.
  • Collaborate with cloud experts and leadership across adjacent departments (e.g., cybersecurity, data) to build cross-functional technical teams to achieve project goals.
  • Advise cloud leadership on staffing needs for projects to better inform hiring roadmaps.
  • Create and deliver presentations to internal teams, leadership, and external stakeholders.
