About The Position
The Lead Cloud Data Engineer at Mastercard will play a pivotal role in driving the mission to unlock the potential of data assets. This position is focused on innovating and eliminating friction in how users access data from Big Data repositories while enforcing standards and principles in the Big Data space. The successful candidate will be responsible for enabling Cloud data platforms for Mastercard's transaction data warehouse, which will operate in a hybrid model alongside the existing on-premise Hadoop Data Warehouse. This role is crucial for supporting various revenue-generating initiatives across the organization by facilitating insights, machine learning, and data science activities. In this role, the Lead Cloud Data Engineer will design and develop high-quality, secure, and scalable software solutions based on technical requirements specifications and design artifacts. The engineer will develop and build solutions on cloud data platforms, specifically Databricks, while adhering to industry standards. Additionally, the engineer will build a governance framework for cloud data storage and usage for enterprise data platforms. Collaboration is key, as the engineer will work on cross-functional agile teams that include developers, report/BI developers, and product owners. The role also involves providing technology leadership in the cloud big data space to development and product teams, ensuring that the best practices and trends in data platform technology are followed. The Lead Cloud Data Engineer will participate in architectural discussions, iteration planning, and feature sizing meetings, actively adhering to Agile processes and participating in agile ceremonies. Stakeholder management skills are essential for this role, as the engineer will need to communicate effectively with various teams and leaders within the organization.
