The Lead Clinical Research Data Manager is responsible for overseeing the collection, documentation, and analysis of clinical trial data for complex clinical research studies at the University of Chicago. This role involves providing expertise in data management, ensuring compliance with research protocols, and contributing to strategic decisions impacting clinical research. The manager will work independently and collaboratively with investigators and other research staff to ensure the integrity and timeliness of data reporting.

  • Accountable for all data management tasks in support of high complexity clinical research studies independently.
  • Oversees document collection and review in collaboration with the Principal Investigator (PI), ensuring confidentiality and providing expertise on clinical research fundamentals.
  • Solves complex problems relating to data management and the analysis of large administrative datasets.
  • Develops, manages, and reports on key data, ensuring timely submissions from multiple investigators.
  • Leads quality assurance reviews conducted by study sponsors and federal agencies, conducting root cause analysis and developing preventative action plans.
  • Acts as a resource on clinical research for other staff, solving complex problems on assigned studies.
  • Performs various professional, organizational, and operational tasks under limited supervision.
  • Minimum college or university degree in a related field.
  • 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Progressively responsible relevant clinical research experience.
  • Proven excellence in data management.
  • Experience in data monitoring, query generation, and resolution.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Knowledge of medical and clinical trial terminology.
  • Experience troubleshooting clinical trials and identifying appropriate interventions.
  • Knowledge in a relevant scientific field.
