About The Position

To support the Clinical Coordinator in providing high quality customer service for both internal and external customers. The position involves providing direct patient care, triaging member calls, making patient call-backs for providers, performing patient teaching, and assisting with procedures based on provider orders and applicable regulatory laws. The role also includes coordinating patient care for hospital admissions, specialty referrals, IV Care for AHC, new mom assessment protocol (OB), MCCP (Peds), and ancillary support departments. Additionally, the position requires making monthly staffing schedules and day-to-day work assignments to department staff, assessing workloads, and making special assignments during peak and slow periods. The individual will collect and code department time sheets, call in staff to meet minimum staffing requirements, authorize overtime, coordinate with other clinical teams to cover staff shortages, and process provider schedule changes when delegated by the Clinical Coordinator. The role also involves handling difficult and problematic work situations, serving as a resource for other staff members, orienting new staff, identifying staff needs for training, and providing in-service training as needed. The individual will perform special projects as assigned by the Clinical Coordinator, provide feedback for staff performance, assist in the development and revision of department procedures, and perform other related duties as directed.

Requirements

  • At least one (1) year of current experience in HMO or ambulatory setting with emphasis on patient education.
  • Experience in IV Therapy.
  • Credentials from the primary work state are required at hire.
  • Registered Nurse License (Virginia) within 6 months of hire.
  • Registered Nurse License (Maryland) within 6 months of hire OR Compact License: Registered Nurse within 6 months of hire.
  • Registered Nurse License (District of Columbia) within 6 months of hire.
  • Proficiency in the use of applicable computer software.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of clinical systems and processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a leadership role.
  • BSN is preferred.
