Under the general direction of the Clinical Services Director, the role of this position is to oversee daily administration and operations such as establishing appropriate procedures and protocols, proficiency testing, quality control, departmental quality assurance, lab safety, measures, work schedules, supplies and billing review. The incumbent also provides lead work direction, involving training employees, scheduling laboratory staff, assigning and reviewing work, and providing input to employee selection and performance evaluations. The incumbent is accountable for maintaining all laboratory certifications and accreditations. The Lead CLS also performs a variety of clinical laboratory tests, including performance of high and moderate complexity testing in addition to waived clinical laboratory tests as defined by CLIA, ensuring accurate collection and proper handling of specimens, including phlebotomy and preparation of specimens, to maintain specimen integrity. The Lead CLS II will monitor the usage of automated and manual data and reporting systems, such as a laboratory information system to maintain laboratory records of laboratory tests conducted, monitor patient data and information accuracy to prepare reports. The purpose of Campus Health & Wellbeing is to help students achieve and maintain academic success and lifelong health and well-being by providing timely and appropriate primary and acute health care, disease and injury prevention education, professional mental health, outreach, educational services and campus consultations.
