About The Position

Assists the laboratory manager/director in the management of the assigned laboratory department(s) and its staff and day-to-day operations; this includes, but is not limited to, process improvement, Technical Procedure revision, staff scheduling, interview process, staff performance review, coaching, training, competency development and assessment; employee relation issues; department compliance; policy and regulatory compliance; and Quality Assurance/Improvement. Requirements

  • Active California Clinical Laboratory license
  • Five (5) years as clinical laboratory scientist (medical technologist) with good general knowledge of all laboratory sections
  • One year of acute care hospital lab experience
  • Technical skills in laboratory science
  • Working knowledge of quality control rules
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards (CLIA, DHS, CAP, Joint Commission, CIHQ)
  • Precise with details and organizational skills
  • Writing and technical writing skills
  • Problem solving ability
  • Knowledge of computers, word processing and spreadsheet skills preferable

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years team lead or supervisory experience
