Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent REQUIRED
  • Three years’ experience in a medical setting REQUIRED

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree preferred
  • Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency
  • PBT(ASCP) - Phlebotomy Technician upon hire preferred.
  • 1 year of supervisory experience preferred
  • Customer Service experience preferred
  • Anatomic Pathology lab experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Follows laboratory procedures for handling unacceptable specimens
  • Resolves pending specimen issues
  • Coordinates timed, routine, ASAP and STAT draws to prevent multiple sticks to the patient and to prevent excessive blood volume draws.
  • Participates in orientation and training of new employees and students
  • Participates in system, entity or departmental performance improvement activities, internal laboratory committees, professional organizations or hospital sponsored community service activities.
  • Reviews physician orders to ensure all tests are ordered in LIS
  • Accurately enters client information and test orders into LIS Restock supplies before and after shift
  • Notify supervisor when supplies are low
  • Performs assigned daily/weekly/monthly maintenance
