About The Position

The Lead Client Systems Engineer provides strategic leadership for the deployment, maintenance, and continuous optimization of Epic's client-side infrastructure. This role ensures the stability, performance, and security of Epic Hyperspace, enterprise printing, and third-party integrations across all clinical and operational environments. The Lead Engineer sets technical standards, drives best practices, and leads initiatives to enhance system reliability and user experience. In addition to delivering hands-on technical expertise and advanced troubleshooting, this role is responsible for mentoring and developing team members to build a high-performing, collaborative team. The Lead Engineer also oversees the design and implementation of custom programming and proprietary system integrations, creating solutions that align with organizational goals and protect the health system's intellectual property. This position requires the ability to independently identify and fulfill responsibilities with minimal oversight, especially on critical matters. The role frequently involves exercising discretion and independent judgment, evaluating different options, and making informed decisions. The position is expected to effectively prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and ensure deadlines are consistently met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience working with Epic EHR systems in a technical capacity.
  • Epic certification(s) in one or more modules (e.g., Epic Bridges, EpicCare, Hyperspace, etc.).
  • Experience supporting Epic client systems in a healthcare IT environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows-based client environments and Epic Hyperspace deployment methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Citrix, VMware, SCCM, and other application delivery technologies.
  • Understanding of networking, security, and Active Directory policies as they relate to Epic systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of hospital business operations and structure, and use of IT applications in healthcare.

Nice To Haves

  • Epic Client Systems Administrator (ECSA) certification or relevant Epic certifications.
  • Experience with automation tools for Epic client deployments and updates.
  • Knowledge of scripting (PowerShell, Batch, or VBScript) for system administration.
