EMPOWERING COMMUNTIES TO THRIVE Job Title: Lead Classroom Instructor Department: Youth and Teen Services - Brownsville Reports To: Program Manager FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt Revision Date: February 2026 Who is Good Samaritan? Good Samaritan Community Services is a 501(c) 3 organization that serves communities underserved by traditional social supports. We provide a continuum of integrated services to more than 3,500 individuals from the age of 6 weeks to 90 years of age. This includes more than 1,200 families via offices and locations in San Antonio, Brownsville, and other parts of South and West Texas. Good Samaritan began as mission of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in 1939 and became an institution of the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas in 1951 under the leadership of Bishop Everett Jones. Since the inception of our ministry, we have focused on serving the health, education, social and workforce needs of our neighbors. Our mission is to "actively serve as a catalyst for change, supporting youth, individuals, and families by providing excellent community services to overcome economic poverty. We do this through a continuum of services designed to stabilize families, establish nurturing relationships, and foster self-sufficiency in those we serve through the programs and support we provide via our Family Services and Youth and Teen Departments. Position Summary The Lead Classroom Instructor is responsible for developing assets in youth by building personal relationships, developing, and delivering exciting lesson plans based on the Search Institute's 40 Developmental Assets, supervising engaging program activities, and supporting daily program operations. This position works with youth primarily in grades 4 through 12 and during the school day.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two years of experience working with youth required.
  • CPR certification required or ability to obtain prior to start date.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Knowledge of word processing software and email required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college in Education, Social Sciences, or related field preferred.
  • Experience with database management systems preferred.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred according to business needs and requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate adherence to the CORE values of Good Samaritan Community Services.
  • Use the 40 Developmental Assets framework as a guide to developing program activities.
  • Develop and deliver lesson plans in accordance with program policy and procedure.
  • Deliver leadership activities, recreation, and other program activities as needed.
  • Chaperone field trips and other off campus activities as needed.
  • Focus service delivery on youth in grades 4 through 12 and build positive relationships.
  • Report participant progress and or significant events to supervisor.
  • Assist with outreach and recruitment efforts.
  • Deliver services within contract compliance and prepare and submit monthly contract paperwork and reports as needed.
  • Ensure all program and agency data is entered into appropriate data systems timely and accurately.
  • Complete other duties as assigned based on program and/or agency needs.
