Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Illinois or ability to obtain Illinois licensure through reciprocity within 6 months of hire.
  • 15+ years of progressive civil engineering experience, with a strong portfolio of utility, grading, and stormwater design on transportation or transit projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and MicroStation.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and mentoring early- and mid-career professionals.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working with clients, agencies, and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, design, and delivery of civil engineering components for transportation and transit projects, with emphasis on utilities, site development, grading, and stormwater management systems.
  • Serve as the technical authority for design decisions, ensuring quality, innovation, and compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Produce and review detailed engineering drawings, models, and plans using AutoCAD and MicroStation.
  • Coordinate and collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams, partnering closely with designers, engineers, and external stakeholders.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers through technical coaching, constructive feedback, and career development support.
  • Contribute to business development efforts, including proposals, client presentations, and strategic project planning.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to TYLin’s high standards of technical excellence.
