About The Position

This role is responsible for overseeing the design and development of the Chemistry Program for the Power Plants. They will contribute to the development of the primary and secondary chemistry programs. This will include identifying chemical control strategies, developing chemistry monitoring and sampling requirements including acceptance criteria, development of action level and alarm response actions for out of spec parameters, developing mitigation of corrosion mechanisms, establish a laboratory Quality Assurance/ Quality Control (QA/QC) program, identifying chemistry transition points for startup and shutdown, and developing the chemical addition system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in chemical engineering, nuclear engineering, material science, material science engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related science degree
  • Seven plus years’ experience in related experience and three plus years of leadership experience in nuclear process engineer activities.
  • Five or more years nuclear-related experience.
  • Knowledge of nuclear regulations, regulatory review processes and inspection processes, nuclear codes and standards, budgeting, planning, and scheduling.
  • Experience with industrial equipment design, procurement, installation, and operation is required.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and licensing of the power plant.
  • Interface with system engineers, analysts and other stakeholders to optimize design for any system requiring chemistry controls.
  • Lead the design of chemical processing systems.
  • Conduct research to develop new and improved processes for chemical treatment.
  • Develop specifications for chemistry process equipment and work with equipment suppliers to ensure critical design characteristics are met for equipment delivery.
  • Work with subcontractors and suppliers to design, construct, deliver, and install chemical equipment.
  • Develop standard operating procedures for chemical and analytical systems.
  • Troubleshoot problems associated with chemical processes.
  • Monitor and diagnose variances from process controls.
  • Work with regulatory team to establish safety policies and procedures for individuals working with hazardous chemicals, processes, or equipment.
  • Work with regulatory team to establish appropriate safety controls for chemical treatment.
  • Work with regulatory team to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Develop policies and procedures to process and handle solid, liquid, and gaseous materials in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Provide support for waste permitting.
  • Design and plan laboratory and equipment layout, particularly for new processes, products, and/or customers.
  • Continually update a master list of all equipment, chemical inputs, chemical outputs, and waste streams.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
