Lead Chemist
About The Position
At P&T Products, part of Pavement Maintenance Group (PMG), we are looking for more than a lab professional. We are looking for a hands-on technical leader who can step into the plant, take ownership of quality and formulation, and help drive the business forward. The Lead Chemist is a critical role for someone who wants to blend science, operations, problem-solving, and leadership in a fast-moving manufacturing environment. This position serves as the plant's primary technical, quality, and regulatory authority. The right person will lead formulation development and maintenance, oversee laboratory testing and batch support, and work closely with Production, Sales, Operations, and R&D to ensure our products perform at a high level and meet demanding customer and industry standards. This is not a role for someone who wants to stay behind a desk. It is built for a chemist who is comfortable moving between the lab, the plant floor, and cross-functional discussions, using sound judgment to solve problems and improve processes in real time. The Lead Chemist will play a central role in product innovation, raw material evaluation, quality control, and regulatory compliance. From reviewing test results and investigating out-of-spec materials to supporting DOT, ASTM, and NTPEP requirements, this person will help protect product integrity while also identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce cost, and support future growth. They will also serve as a technical resource for customer inquiries, sales support, product documentation, and complaint resolution. At PMG, we value people who combine expertise with ownership. Responsibilities
- Lead formulation development and maintenance
- Oversee laboratory testing and batch support
- Work closely with Production, Sales, Operations, and R&D
- Review test results and investigate out-of-spec materials
- Support DOT, ASTM, and NTPEP requirements
- Serve as a technical resource for customer inquiries, sales support, product documentation, and complaint resolution
- Conducting background checks, employee eligibility verifications, and schedule pre-hire screening requirements, including but not limited to drug testing and physicals
