Requirements

  • High School Graduate/GED
  • 1-3 years of Central Service/Central Sterile Processing experience required
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) within 1 year of beginning of employment

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for instrument processing area and assignments as needed to meet the needs of the surgical team instrument requests and departments.
  • Participates in employee selection process; recommends corrective and other employee actions to CSR Manager.
  • Assists with evaluations in a constructive manner to ensure improved employee performance.
  • Assists CSR Manager and Director in coaching, counseling, and disciplining staff per hospital policy.
  • Directs, supervises and assists with the daily workload in the CSR, instrument processing and decontamination of surgical instrumentation and equipment.
  • Directs, supervises and assists with instrument processing technicians in maintaining accurate records on sterilization.
  • Assists in visual inspection, assembly and wrapping of sterile instruments prior to sterilization.
  • Assists with the care and maintenance of equipment and instrumentation.
  • Ordering supplies to maintain stock for both CSR and OR tray inventory.
  • Directs and assists with cleaning and environmental surfaces and equipment to maintain function and asepsis.
  • Assists in the daily management/operations functions related to staffing, scheduling and materials management.
  • Conducts orientation of new staff as well as coordinating maintaining competency in all staff.
  • Acts as a preceptor to new hire staff.
