The team includes primary care physicians and specialists covering all aspects of health from pediatrics to geriatrics. The Lead Certified Medical Assistant role is integral to this system, handling patient intake, managing medical records, assisting with clinic visits, ensuring quality standards, and providing guidance and mentorship to other medical assistants.

Responsibilities

  • Handles patient intake, updates medical records, and administers appropriate screening tools.
  • Documents appropriate correspondence, assessments, and care in patient's electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Assists with scheduled clinic visits, ensures verification and recording of clinical data and adherence to quality standards.
  • Monitors environment for compliance with continual accreditation readiness and evaluates practice schedule for changes or updates.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the certified medical assistant scope of practice, incorporating elements of holistic patient-centered and team-based care.
  • Guides patients through the health care system and helps patients arrive at scheduled appointments on time.
  • Assists with referrals of patients to the appropriate specialist for diagnosis or treatment and provides emotional support related to the patient's clinical situation in accordance with the plan of care.
  • Implements process improvement techniques where necessary and ensures compliance with protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Provides day-to-day direction, guidance, and mentorship to medical assistants, serves as clinical lead in the absence of the supervisor/manager and provides performance feedback/documentation.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
