Lead the Team That Keeps the OR Moving! UPMC Presbyterian is hiring a Lead Sterile Processing Technician to support night shift (10 PM – 6:30 AM) Monday-Friday.

Requirements

• Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy trays
• Comfort with repetitive, detail-oriented tasks
• A strong sense of urgency and ownership
• Willingness to work every third weekend, select holidays, and occasional on-call hours
• High School Graduate or equivalent required.
• Two years of central sterile processing experience required.
• Annual Project required upon hire. Must complete 10 hours of continuing education to remain qualified as a Central Sterile Technician on an annual basis. Must be able to stand for all shift hours and be able to pick up, push, pull etc. 35 pounds.
• Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution OR Certified Registered Central Service Technician with Healthcare Sterile Processing Association
• Act 34

• Previous leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take charge during nights, rotating weekends, or when leadership is off-site
• Supervise day-to-day workflow, train new staff, and ensure compliance with critical safety and infection control protocols
• Scrub, sterilize, assemble, and troubleshoot instrumentation and surgical trays
• Serve as the go-to liaison between the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) and the OR
• Drive performance improvement projects and mentor team members
• Participate in committees, lead professional development, and contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives
• Champion teamwork, belonging, and a positive, respectful work environment
