About The Position

St. Francis Hospital Memphis is a 510-bed acute care hospital dedicated to providing high quality, compassionate care to the Mid-South community. As a comprehensive medical center, Saint Francis Hospital Memphis features a broad spectrum of tertiary and acute care, outpatient services and specialty areas including Women's Services, Surgical Services, Bariatric Center of Excellence and Behavioral Health. Other acute care areas include Emergency Room, Critical Care, Med/ Surge and Telemetry. The Lead Cath Lab Tech position is a full-time role that performs direct and indirect functions in the cardiac cath lab, assisting all physicians and staff with clinical and technical aspects of cardiovascular care. Responsibilities include scrubbing, monitoring, and circulating in all invasive procedures in the cath lab and IVR, as well as inventory control and functioning on all cardiac alerts and STEMI cases.

Requirements

  • Required: Associate degree in Radiology or equivalent.
  • Required: Basic EKG course.
  • Required: 6 months in cath lab/cardiac intervention lab.
  • Required: BLS certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Radiology or equivalent.
  • Preferred: 1 year experience providing cardiac cath, radiology care.
  • Preferred: RCIS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses physical, psychosocial, and growth and development needs of the patient.
  • Completes pre, intra and post procedure assessment.
  • Informs nurse/MD of any changes in patient's condition.
  • Develops a plan of care for procedure being performed, individualized to include specific patient problems, needs and scheduled procedure.
  • Provides teaching and guidance to patient and/or family as well as staff members.
  • Executes x-ray for desired views including abdominal aorta gram, runoff, division, storing and printing images.
  • Sets priorities for care of patients based on patient's needs and resources available.
  • Identifies and performs appropriately in emergency patient care solutions.
  • Knowledge of set up and monitoring of IABP.
  • Assists with set-up, insertion and care of temporary and permanent pacemakers.
