About The Position

At JAX Mercantile Co., we are passionate about serving our customers. Join our local, family and employee-owned company as the Lead Cashier in our JAX Outdoor Gear, Farm & Ranch location in Broomfield, CO. Our cashiers are typically the first and last JAX representative our customers interact with, so we are looking for a charismatic leader to inspire our team of Cashiers to demonstrate engagement and enthusiasm for the company. Customers will come back to a company where they felt the enthusiasm of the staff for the products we sell and the work we do! Our Lead Cashier is responsible for leading the team of Cashiers who greet customers, provide top notch customer service, understand current promotions, accurately process transactions, maintain a clean workspace, present a professional appearance and demeanor, and assist other departments when needed. JAX employees pitch-in where needed and share their enthusiasm for our products with customers everyday.

Requirements

  • Our ideal candidate has great customer service skills, takes initiative, works well individually and with others, is organized, situationally aware, attentive to details, and communicates well.
  • Requires 1-3 years of experience working a point-of-sale terminal or computer cash register.
  • Requires experience processing sales, refunds, exchanges, taking coupons, making adjustments for system errors, and selling gift cards.
  • High School diploma or equivalent education and experience.
  • Ability to be flexible and respond quickly to solve problems
  • Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor even when faced with escalated customers.
  • MUST be available on Weekends
  • Flexible availability required

  • Previous leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Model exceptional customer service for the Cashier team.
  • Stay current on the latest updates to process and procedures that impact the Cashier team.
  • Accurately process payments, refunds, exchanges, gift cards, payments on account and other Cashier transactions.
  • Troubleshoot problems with processes or systems for the Cashier team if they get stuck during a transaction.
  • Ensure there are enough Cashiers for the customers in line.
  • Communicate with Store Management when there are problems that need their assistance or attention.
  • Welcome and assist customers in finding what they need as they enter the store.
  • Thank customers and make our gratitude apparent to everyone as they leave the store, regardless of whether a purchase is made.
  • Assist Store Management with schedule troubleshooting and filling in shifts when Cashiers call out sick or show up late.
  • Communicate and reinforce policy and procedure to the Cashier team.
  • Listen to customer feedback and resolve customer complaints with Store Management oversight.
  • Understands and advises customers of current sales, promotions, and other events.
  • Provides training and coaching for Cashiers who need additional help.
  • Assists with putting merchandise on the floor and arranging product displays.
  • Helps move or shift product or packing materials as the business requires it.
  • Assists with counting and reporting during Inventory.
